Chef / Sous Chef
A beautiful plate is so much more than just the sum of all its ingredients
As a chef or sous chef, you are at the helm and are responsible for creating culinary masterpieces. What you and your kitchen team put on our plates makes our guests happy and the world a better place. A fresh fish straight from Lake Zurich, a delicious piece of meat, refined appetizers, sinful desserts, new, traditional and lovely ingredients from here, there and everywhere – you and your cooking talent bring pure holiday atmosphere to the table with every course. For our guests and for you as well.
As a chef, you manage the entire restaurant kitchen organization and lead your kitchen brigade with confidence. And, of course, you also work alongside them. This means there is no work that is beneath you. A clean mise en place is important to you. You are familiar with kitchen hygiene regulations and insist that they are always complied with. You never run out of ideas nor the ingredients it takes to bring them to life. That’s why you’re also responsible for resource management and ordering.
The day-to-day business runs smoothly thanks to your cooking and leadership skills. But you can also handle an event or banquet.
Why it’s fun to work with us
We often refer to ourselves as the Pump Team or the Péclard family. These are not just empty words. Here, you really are part of a tight-knit group, a family. Our success comes down to the fact that we all take great joy in restaurant work. We take care of each other. And if you don’t yet have a place to stay nearby when you start, you can stay with us at the Fischer’s Fritz campground directly on the lake in Zurich Wollishofen. All you have to bring is a tent. This is just one of the many benefits to working at our restaurants.
What we are looking for
Sure, some form of culinary education is always welcome. But we are also always open to upcoming cooks from other fields who simply have a lot of interest in restaurants. Not least for this reason, we launched our “Academy of Cooks & Pans” cooking school, which, for example, enables immigrants to receive culinary training that would otherwise not be possible in the conventional culinary-school path. That is why it’s important that you also have understanding for people who may have been born in, say, Afghanistan and not in Aarau, Adligenswil or Agasul.
What is important to us
A confident leadership style in your management tasks. You lead your team fairly and consistently. In your heart of hearts, you are a cook and you shine when the kitchen is really buzzing. You are the captain of the kitchen and always keep your cool, even when things heat up.
